What to Expect after Getting a Dental Implant

It is very important to make it to all of your dental visits during the dental implant procedure.  Your dental care provider will give you instructions on caring for the site during the process.  After your dental implant is in place, you will care for it just as you would any of your other teeth.  You will want to continue to brush and floss regularly as well as keeping up with your regularly scheduled visits to make sure that your dental implant is functioning properly and to maintain care of your remaining natural teeth.

Who should get a Dental Implant?

If you have good oral health and are missing one or more teeth due to injury, disease, or decay, you are on your way to being a great candidate to receive a dental implant.  Your implant will match your remaining teeth in color, size, and function.  Adequate bone height and density is very important in deciding if you are eligible for a dental implant.  Your dental care provider will likely have you undergo several tests and scans in order to be positive that you are a good candidate for a successful dental implant.

Implants are continually being improved upon.  For this reason, be sure to speak to your dental care provider about getting an implant, even if you think you may not be eligible.  This treatment option is constantly evolving and they are always working on new ways to help more patients get the quality care that they deserve.  There are other implant styles in place that can help someone who may have lower bone height and density.  Your dental care provider will be able to discuss these options with you in further detail.
